I am an artist working with digital media ranging from game engines to generative AI, tools I use as proxies for the technical and organic systems that structure to our world. From the sprawling networks of the internet and the brain to the structured logic of games, I explore how systems shape experience and identity.
Artworks, like all objects, function as artificial intelligences; they contain and express their origins, and distort the world around them both physically and conceptually. They are observed, and they observe; they change their environment as they are changed by it. They collect dust and physically decay, just as they are transformed by evolving associations with their creators and creation, their history of ownership, and their public reception. All of this activity can be understood as information exchange among organic and inorganic observers. My work emphasizes the operations of this exchange, both within the viewer and the artwork itself. My work presents itself as systems and the products of systems, embraces chance operations and contingency, and encourages viewers to see each piece as dependent on a larger world.
